Martin Roberts, host of the show Homes Under the Hammer, underwent heart surgery and revealed that he doesn’t know how much time he has left to live.

Roberts, 61, had a scare in 2022 after feeling severe chest pains. He had to be rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. At the time, he was diagnosed with a pericardial effusion.

This condition causes a buildup of fluid around the heart, which can compress the organ and prevent it from functioning. He was told he possibly had “maybe two or three hours” to live before the surgery that would save his life.

After leaving the hospital, he was advised to slow down, but he recently admitted that he hasn’t been doing that, working on a pub renovation project in Wales. He recently admitted that he “panics” when he feels “stabs” in his heart.

Even though he revealed that he “doesn’t know how much time” he has left, he gave an interview to the Daily Mail and stated that he wants to make the most of his time and do “as much as he can.”

“The physical side of things took much longer than we thought to get around. I still feel stabs, and every time I feel a stab in my chest, I panic. As anyone who has had any kind of heart problem can attest,” he explained.

“They told me I needed to slow down and take it easy and all that, but I took a completely different path,” the host added, before revealing that he wants to help local children who are “disadvantaged” acquire skills in construction.

He said he doesn’t know how much time he has left and wants to do as much as he can to help. The presenter also said that “it’s not really about money” and more about “making a difference.”
